Abstract

The United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) Great Families 2020 (GF2020) initiative began in 2016 and sought to provide financial stability to families in Indianapolis. The GF2020 service delivery model used a two-generational (2Gen) approach that simultaneously addressed the needs of parents/caregivers and their children (ages 0–6). The program used case management to direct families to evidence-based interventions and wraparound services. GF2020 was implemented across eight subgrantees and their partners located within five neighborhoods in Indianapolis. This brief highlights the need for future 2Gen services that could help families meet their basic needs—specifically, assistance with transportation, rent, and utilities. Further, we discuss the need to broaden future 2Gen services in Indianapolis.
