dc.description.abstractPopular literary tradition depicts the heart as the seat of human emotion, and evidence of this is everywhere. We speak of music touching our heartstrings, we talk of having a change of heart, we place our hands over our hearts when we sing the national anthem. Of course, we know today that mental and emotional activity is centered in the brain, but can music actually affect our hearts? Is there medical and scientific evidence of music's effects on heart health?en_US
