    Co-creating culturally responsive resources with communities. The challenges of online research

    The presentation is about the experience of a team of IUPUI and community researchers doing online research with the participation of a group of parents in the IPS Newcomer program. The research was aimed at producing culturally relevant college and career resources for parents of Newcomer Latino students. The presentation summarizes the challenges of online community-engaged research.

    Guia para Padres: Opciones al finalizar la escuela secundaria

    This Parent’s Guide was produced in collaboration with a group of mothers and fathers of the Newcomer Program of the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) who participated in online meetings and activities between September 2020 and June 2021. During the meetings, the parents shared their hopes and dreams about their children's future and their questions and concerns about how to find resources and information to achieve those dreams. The guide was co-developed in response to the information needs raised by parents during the meetings.

    Guia para el cuidado de los dientes y boca para personas de Guatemala, El Salvador y Honduras

    This is a dental health navigation manual for the Hispanic population. This group is disproportionately affected by dental health problems, perhaps the worst situation for people from Central America. An advisory group was organized, composed of people from three Central American countries: El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. Along with community input, the team developed the “Guia para el cuidado de los dientes y boca” navigation manual.

    To Include or Exclude: Criteria to look for when looking to code for the Scholarship of Engagement

    In the spring of 2021, a pilot was conducted to assess the fidelity of, and degree to which, publications tagged by faculty as civic engagement in Digital Measures met the criteria for community engaged scholarship. A sample of 111 scholarly artifacts were used in this pilot. Records used span 2017-2020. Based on the criteria used by reviewers, of the 111 artifacts reviewed, only 16 met the criteria for inclusion.
