Surgical resection of carcinoids remains the standard of care. However, in patients with diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine cell hyperplasia (DIPNECH), a condition characterized by the presence of innumerable small pulmonary carcinoids, observing small carcinoids may be acceptable.
