A good idea is to use methods of management in IT companies as methods for current knowledge teaching of university students. It is also worth engaging students not only in educational international projects but the research projects as well. This work analyzes the method for teaching students, and the Scrum methodology was selected and implemented for educational and research projects. Students participated in both projects, however, Scrum models should be different for them and this is illustrated in the paper. The visualization of collected statistical data of the performed educational project illustrated distributions of students by specialization and by marks. The distributions by marks showed that using the Scrum model for the teaching course significantly increases the marks compared with the average level marks of the students in their specializations.Item Standardizing an Organizational Approach to Hospital Accreditation at an Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit(2021-04-29) Pridemore, Alyssa; Van Antwerp, Leah; Department of Occupational Therapy, School of Health and Human Sciences; Daniels, ReneeAccreditation is a process that many healthcare organizations undergo in order to evaluate the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the services they provide. Current literature suggests that many organizations struggle with the accreditation process because it is such a large undertaking. An organization that obtains accreditation status is found to comply with a set of international recognized standards which demonstrates to stakeholders that they provide high quality, evidence-based, and safe care. In the last decade, healthcare has rapidly evolved from volume-based care to high-quality value-based care. With increased focus on valuable healthcare, accreditation has never been more important. The aim of this capstone project was to evaluate the impact of implementing a standardized organizational approach to CARF medical rehabilitation accreditation for an inpatient rehabilitation unit at a hospital in the Midwest. Various organizational resources such as a policy library, an accreditation tracking tool, a meeting structure with schedules and agendas, and a project management structure were developed to assist therapy leaders in preparing for and maintaining compliance with CARF accreditation standards. The results of this project were highly satisfactory in terms of its purpose, relevance, and utility. By utilizing occupational therapy’s unique role in utilizing evidence-based research, analysis skills, and patient-centered care, a systematic project management structure was successfully created and implemented thus improving the overall quality of healthcare services at an inpatient rehabilitation facility. This project demonstrates the impact of engaging in accreditation on maximizing the overall quality of healthcare services.Item Technical Communication and Project Management: A Mixed Methods Study in a Corporate Context(IEEE, 2018-07) Miller, Rosemarie T.; Hovde, Marjorie Rush; Technology and Leadership Communication, School of Engineering and TechnologyA mid-size manufacturing business grew from a family start-up to a global leader in less than three decades, but no plan was developed for Project Management or Technical Communication. Recently upper management acknowledged this corporate weakness and asked us to research interdepartmental communication, with emphasis on New Product Development. Formal Project Management had not previously been attempted at this company, and New Product Development was conducted as a committee. After a literature review, we conducted a mixed-method study to assess employee satisfaction with current project processes, technology, and communication. A survey combining two existing tools was administered to all personnel in departments involved with New Product Development. Downs and Hazen's Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire was tailored to evaluate the company's communications, and a customized version of the Universal Technology Adoption and Use Theory tool assessed technology use and acceptance within the company. Subsequent to the survey, all department managers directly involved with New Product Development at the organization were interviewed. Quantitative results were analyzed statistically, and qualitative results were analyzed through open coding. Findings from this study can provide insight into the dynamics of improving both Project Management and Technical Communication within a corporate context.
