Item Benefits of Integrating Faculty Librarians with Campus Funded Undergraduate and Graduate Research Programs [Abstract].(Council of Undergraduate Research, 2007) Gonzalez, Edward L. F.; Wilson, Kathryn J.Item Big data(2015-10-05) Coates, Heather L.Item Data Services: Making it Happen(s4.goeshow.com/acrl/national/2013/profile.cfm?profile_name=download&handout_key=4C22E652-FFAD-40D8-91DB-846AA18F5702&xtemplate=1, 2013-04-12) Coates, Heather L.; Konkiel, Stacy; Witt, MichaelThe explosion of digital research data has created exciting opportunities for librarians to engage with faculty, staff, and students in their research processes. Advances in computing, sensor technologies, and communications are challenging researchers’ abilities to find, manage, utilize, visualize, and store data. Three librarians from public Universities will describe practical approaches for developing new services, collaborations, and content to meet these needs. Real-world examples and relevant issues will be posed for group discussion.Item Deconstructing Faculty Status: Research and Assumptions(Elsevier, 1993) Applegate, RachelArguments for faculty status have traditionally been based upon a comparative model: librarians want their roles to be compared to those of faculty, not administrators. The author of this article, however, finds almost no empirical research on the status, roles, and benefits of faculty, librarians, and administrators to support this model. She posits several alternative approaches to the faculty status issue.Item Practical data management: Enabling graduate students and staff to function as ethical actors(2013-04-12) Coates, Heather L.Graduate students and staff are the unrecognized daily stewards for much of the research data collected on academic campuses. Often, they are performing these vital tasks without understanding their role as part of the research life cycle and scholarly communication process. Providing data management training is vital to ensuring the integrity of valuable research data. This poster will describe a series of instructional tools designed to provide a skills base for responsible data management.
