Abstract
This study was undertaken to determine normal changes which occur over a period of approximately ten years, in occlusions determined to be excellent in the mixed dentition stage of development. Skeletal patterns were compared graphically with Downs' sample of patients with excellent occlusion. A model analysis was used to compare various aspects comprising an excellent occlusion. The data derived from the model analysis was subjected to a statistical analysis. The results showed a more protrusive facial profile with increase in age. Also, there was a decrease in overjet, cuspid occlusion became slightly more Class II, and there was an increase in the presence and amount of crowding in the lower anterior teeth.
