Abstract

A dramatic reading of Edouard Glissant’s interactive play Tale of Black Histories (Histoire de nègre) performed by members of the Asante Art Institute of Indianapolis, Inc. (formerly Asante Children’s Theatre) under the direction of Gilbert Laumord, artistic director, SIYAJ theater company, Guadeloupe, before a public audience in Hine Hall on April 6, 2019. Performed by Teneh Karimu, Alicia Sims, and Joshua Short. Produced by Daniella Kostroun in conjunction with the 65th Annual Meeting of the Society for French Historical Studies with a pre-performance lecture by Andrew Daily and Emily Sahakian, editors and translators of the English edition of the play (forthcoming, Caribbean Studies Press) and post-performance discussion facilitated by Emily Sahakian and the Rev. Dr. Winterbourne Harrison-Jones.
