dc.description.abstract• Low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) have limited medical resources which contributes to high morbidity and mortality rates from non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and hypertension. • Globally, diabetes prevalence is expected to increase from 8.4% in 2017 to 9.9% by 2045 (1); hypertension rates from 26.4% in 2020 to 29.2% by 2030 (2; 3). • The largest increases are expected in sub-Saharan African countries like Nigeria (1; 4). • Private and non-profit organizations play a critical role in providing health education, screenings, and treatment to vulnerable populations through medical missions or health service projects, which contribute to Sustainable Development Goal 3: Ensure healthy lives.en_US
