dc.description.abstract | Uganda, like many other African countries, has a long tradition of philanthropy that is mostly influenced by culture and by religious practices. A significant percentage of giving in Uganda happens informally and therefore remains largely undocumented (Pascal 2015). Local philanthropy in Uganda focuses mostly on addressing immediate needs such as food, education, health, access to social amenities, and empowerment of marginalized groups. | en_US |
