In this paper, I describe how patterns of overall giving differ across socioeconomic characteristics of households with the data set called the Center on Philanthropy Panel Study (COPPS). The COPPS is the nation’s first and only ongoing philanthropy study surveying the same families every two years, along with the families created by their adult children. The COPPS 2003 wave asks about the value of household charitable contributions, which consist of money, assets, or property given in 2002.en_US
