Abstract

This technical report will outline the design and implementation plans for our Speech to Display device. The objective of this project is to create a device that writes speech onto a display. The speech to display device will be powered entirely by USB. The device must be readable from at least 20 feet away. The device must be portable. If these objectives are met, an additional objective to include wireless communication between multiple devices will be pursued. Additionally, the ease of use for this device is of high priority. With that in mind, the use of a cell phone technology will eliminate the need for excessive hardware and could also advance the functional aspects of the software element. This report will discuss the elements developed during the design phase, the process of implementing our design, and the results produced.
