The Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) spans three major and preeminent universities, four large academic campuses across the state of Indiana, and is mandate to provide best practices to a whole state. Methods: To address the need to facilitate the availability of innovative technologies to its investigators, the Indiana CTSI implemented the Access Technology Program (ATP). The activities of the ATP, or any program of the Indiana CTSI, are challenged to connect technologies and investigators on the multiple Indiana CTSI campuses by the geographical distances between campuses (1–4 hr driving time). Results: Herein, we describe the initiatives developed by the ATP to increase the availability of state-of-the-art technologies to its investigators on all Indiana CTSI campuses, and the methods developed by the ATP to bridge the distance between campuses, technologies, and investigators for the advancement of clinical translational research. The network intended to impact teachers’ perceptions about equitable and inclusive uses of technology, decisions about curricular materials, and their perceptions of cultural positionality and dispositions for engaging with students. This concept provided opportunities to learn about how to engage teachers around strengthening their criticality and the affordances of collaborative professional learning, by centering teacher voice and fostering teacher agency in disrupting the status quo in k-12 education.Item Considering Telematic Tools for Conferences(Stony Brook University, 2019) Deal, Scott; Smith, Rodney; Meng, Chuiyuan; Vice, Matt; Music and Arts Technology, School of Engineering and TechnologyParticipation in conferences is an elemental component of professional life throughout the world. Two problems offset the social synergy gained from attending a far-away gathering of like-minded people. The first is the highly pronounced carbon footprint from air travel, and the second is the expense involved to participate in a conference which may be on another continent. These factors prevent many from participating who could otherwise benefit as well as contribute. As videoconferencing becomes more common and more sophisticated, it will serve as an alternative that not only benefits constituencies, but will expand the reach of a conference to more communities. This paper outlines a rationale, ideas, and a blueprint for a video conferencing toolkit intended to merge both on-site and on-line participants, via tailored applications and best practices.
