Pandemic Telehealth Utilization and Radiology as a Career Choice
(Elsevier, 2021-08) Hammond, Kevin B.; Gunderman, Richard B.; Radiology and Imaging Sciences, School of Medicine
The COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to a dramatic increase in reliance on telehealth in medicine. Guidelines around social distancing, as well as quarantine and isolation practices, have nudged many patients and physicians to forego face-to-face interaction and begin relying on virtual visits. As other medical fields shift to a telehealth model of patient care, increasingly resembling the computer-based model of diagnostic radiology, fewer medical students are likely to eschew radiology careers based on a perceived lack of patient contact.
