OBJECTIVE The focus of this brief is to examine trends in gas station and convenience store victimizations between January 1, 2020–September 31, 2022. KEY FINDINGS The IGVP documented 75 total victims who suffered a gunshot wound at a gas station or a convenience store between January 1, 2020, and September 31, 2022. Of 75 victims, 22 were fatalities and 53 were non-fatal shooting victims. In the first three quarters of 2022 there was an 87% increase in shootings compared to the same time period in 2021. Some of these incidents were robbery attempts resulting in shootings (9%) Shootings occurring at gas stations and convenience stores happen more often during the warmer months (64%) than other times of year (36%) Shootings included more male victims (66%) than female victims (11%).
