Results: Toxoplasma Elongator protein 3 (Elp3) possesses a unique C-terminal transmembrane domain necessary and sufficient to target it to the mitochondria. Conclusion: Elp3 is an essential tail-anchored mitochondrial acetyltransferase in Toxoplasma.
